Fair Isle + Leather

Yup. It’s cold. Gonna be cold for awhile. So…. lucky for us, it’s leather leggings time, once again! Yay!

If you’ve been thinking about buying some leather leggings, please just go for it. You will love them! These J.Brand skinnies are still one of my favorite pieces in my closet for both dressy and casual looks. And while leather always loosens a bit (buy at least one size down!), these haven’t lost their shape, since the leather is bonded to a stretch fabric. So smart, those folks at J.Brand ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m also a new fan of the color red, thanks to this little gingham workhorse shirt from J.Crew that just seems to go with everything. J.Crew has some new patterns for the fall/winter season, and I also just bought this beautiful plaid from Banana Republic (photos coming soon! I’ve been wearing it nonstop!!).

And who doesn’t love a good tribal or fair isle print sweater?! They are still “in”, so we can recycle from last season – thank goodness. Some good ones this season are here, here, and here. And if you don’t want an actual print, try this ombrรฉ one. And I must own this one… Must.

Stay warm!

The first cold snap…

Cold weather is here in Florida! Yay! Time to rotate all the sweaters and hats and boots into the closet, and get all bundled up. I love wearing outfits like this, especially my Bailey hat, which is perfect for hiding messy hair ๐Ÿ˜‰

Winter & Summer Blues

We all love it when the weather begins to get warmer and Spring arrives. But do you ever feel slightly disappointed that you can no longer wear all your fun Winter clothes? It’s such a sad day when I move all my boots and sweaters into storage (a.k.a., the guest bedroom closet). No more wool trench, over-the-knee boots, leather gloves, or chunky cable turtleneck. Sad. Just sad.

But the sadness quickly dissipates once I realize that I don’t have to say goodbye to all my winter clothes. Some can easily be repurposed and made fresh again with just a change of the accessories. Like the ubiquitous baby blue mini skirt, that was EVERYWHERE this winter, on every blogger and in every magazine. It’s got a thick, almost neoprene texture, so it’s tough enough to wear in cold weather, but the silhouette and color just scream ‘Spring!’

On a chilly day I’ve paired it with black OTK boots and a wool moto jacket. But then it can also go classic “girly” with a floaty ethereal blouse. So much fun!!

So before you put away your winter items, think twice whether you could still wear it with shorts instead of jeans, or with a tank top instead of a sweater. Your wardrobe just might be bigger than you think ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Royal Picnic

I guess if I had actually been invited to a Royal picnic, this would be a good outfit choice.ย  But alas, Kate Middleton has not invited me to a soireรฉ… it’s simply just the best way to describe today’s outfit… ๐Ÿ™‚

I am pretty obsessed with cobalt / royal blue.ย  Have had this gingham shirt for awhile – a total steal from Old Navy! – but when I saw these shoes at Topshop, I think my heart actually skipped a beat.ย  (I’m also lusting for these Valentinos!)ย  I paired them with white jeans, and ultimately decided on accessories in ecru, which I actually really like against the white.ย  Keeps the look nice and light, instead of how it might look with a dark belt and bag.

And if you’re looking for the perfect white ankle-length jeans for Spring, look no further than the Paige Denim skyline ankle peg.ย  I buy a pair of these skinnies every year.ย  They have some stretch, but most importantly, the denim is thick enough to hide lumps, bumps, panty lines, etc.ย  Just wear undergarments that match your skin tone, and they will disappear under these jeans.ย  Most white jeans have way too much Lycra, and are too thin = unforgiving.ย  These are perfection!ย  Get a pair, you will not regret it!

Happy shopping!

Conversely, I’ve come back around…

This Spring, sneakers and slip-ons are everywhere! The classic Chuck Taylor’s are as hot as ever, but the last time I owned a pair was in elementary school (they were pink high-tops, so rad). However, when I saw this recent pic of the fabulous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley just strolling out of LAX, even I was sold. But her Chucks didn’t look as clunky… must scour the internet for this sleek new version…

Found them! The Chuck Taylor “dainty oxford”. Brilliant. Fashionable. Perfect. Dainty. Clicked “purchase” in less than 10 seconds after finding them. They arrive in 3-5 business days, and then we shall photograph them with… everything!!

Back in Business (attire)

Hi everyone!ย  Took a little hiatus for a few months, and now I’m back in business!

Spring has sprung, so it’s time to take all the Fall/Winter pieces in our closets and find new ways to re-purpose them for the warmer weather.

First up:ย  J.Brand leather skinnies

I love a crisp, striped button-down, and I wear this particular J.Crew basic for work all the time. But for a day of shopping or dinner with friends, instead of pairing it with jeans or capris, I prefer something a little more unexpected. These J.Brand leather pants are such a workhorse in my wardrobe (worth every penny!), and I love them with this look. Add some Prada sunnies, and cute cap-toe ballet flats, and we’ve got casual sophistication… my favorite ๐Ÿ™‚

Polka Dots, Spikes, and Chains

Dress: Zara. Necklace: Zara (similar ). Bag: Zara (similar here & here). Shoes: Saint Laurent (new collection here)

I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m a girly-girl, but every so often I just have an overwhelming desire to wear a flippy dress with a bow. Classic feminine style. It was unseasonably warm here in FL the other week, so I took my girly-girl ensemble to the street – okay, just to a lunch. But I couldn’t resist sneaking in an edgy chain-link necklace under that bow tie, just to contrast from the frill. The studded cross-body mini bag also toughens it up a bit, too. Gotta counteract the uncharacteristically pink lipstick, too. I really don’t know what came over me.

And what shoes does one wear with a girly-girl dress? 5-inch Saint Laurents, naturally ๐Ÿ˜‰
